My current project is to write ten brief yoga sequences. Each sequence can be done in 15-20 minutes, and each sequence follows a different theme. Today’s sequence on Balance presents some fun challenges. Approach this sequence with a flexible attitude and a sense of humor. Try to flow through the standing balance sequence without touching down between poses!
- child’s pose
- tabletop balance
- downward dog
- standing forward fold
- mountain pose
- 2-4 half sun salutes
- standing balance sequence:
- tree pose
- eagle pose
- quad stretch
- dancer pose
- warrior 2
- warrior 1
- pyramid/head-to-knee pose
- half moon
- warrior 3
- repeat the standing balance sequence on the other side!
- toe balance squat
- wide-legged seated forward fold
- bridge pose
- brief savasana

I tried this one today (chair yoga at school yesterday for my 20 minutes, so I’m a day behind), and I have a technical question about it. For the end of the standing balance sequence, are you transitioning directly from half moon to warrior 3, or is there a touchdown of the back foot? (At least how you planned it in your head.)
Since I’m bent forward anyway, I try to transition directly from half moon to warrior 3 – the leg rotates as the torso rotates, but otherwise it can stay up in the air. In actual practice, it really just depends on how balanced one is feeling at the moment. Warrior 3 isn’t a natural-feeling pose for me so I always try to be flexible with my practice of it.
